Beronia is celebrating its 50 years in Rioja Alta with a special edition of Beronia Reserva, as a tribute to its founders, a group of friends united by their love of wine and good food. This commemorative edition, Beronia Reserva 50 Aniversario, from the 2019 vintage, is of outstanding, exceptional quality, endorsed by the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Made from Tempranillo and Graciano grapes, this Reserva embodies the elegance and balance that are typical of Rioja Alta. The production process, which included 18 months maturing in French oak Bordeaux barrels and mixed barrels followed by another period of ageing, in bottle, has lent the wine an exceptional harmony and elegance. In terms of appearance, it is dark garnet and deep. Complex on the nose, this wine is ideal to drink with dishes such as roasts, chops, ibérico cured meats and mature cheeses.
From its humble beginnings in a txoko to becoming the world’s most sustainable winery, Beronia has become a benchmark in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Its story includes everything from its conception in the txoko to the construction of the first winery and the release of the “5th year”, the first wine to be sold, through to its merger with González Byass in 1982, its expansion to 80 countries and its wines gaining global recognition.
Beronia’s commitment to innovation and sustainability set it apart from other wineries. Examples of this uniqueness are its use of mixed barrels and building the first winery in the world to receive LEED V4 BD+C:NC and LEED Gold certifications, setting a new standard for sustainability in the sector.
