In our last post we talked about the most characteristic and traditional dishes from La Rioja cuisine. This is why we thought that before sitting at the table, we are going to take advantage of the recent first place that Logroño got as the best Spanish city for tapas and show you a route of bars in Logroño where we can find good tapas accompanied by our Beronia wines.
In this city we can find several areas where you can eat tapas but, without a doubt, Laurel Street, also known as “The Path of the Elephants“, is the best place to follow this Spanish tradition.
The best bars on Laurel Street
The first place we find in this busy street is the restaurant Pata Negra. It has a great variety of sandwiches and pinchos. One of its specialties, La Bocatilla of ham with melted tetilla cheese, combines perfectly with one of our classic wines: Beronia Crianza. Smoked Sardine is another of the star tapas of Pata Negra, which we can pair with Beronia Viura Fermented in Barrica, a varietal well balanced and a very fresh wine with fruity sensations.
Another essential bar of “La Laurel”, is the bar Páganos, in which you can find tapas of meat elaborated in an artisan way as well as some classic, delicious potatoes omelette, without a doubt, the main dish of this bar. For those tapas we recommend Beronia Tempranillo Elaboración Especial. This 100% Tempranillo has a very pleasant and wide palate predominating the aromas of roasted and fresh red fruits, which makes it perfect for these classic dishes of the Spanish cuisine.
We cannot miss Blanco y Negro, a restaurant with more than 100 years of history. Among their specialties we find the anchovy marriages with green pepper, an oily skewer that rests on hot baked bread. A perfect pairing for this dish would be a fermented Beronia Viura in Barrel. For its structure, it is perfectly adapted to oily fish, all kinds of smoked fish, as well as seafood and cheese. The Bruschetta, another gastronomic wonder, is toast with goat cheese and ham that we leave in the oven until the cheese melts and the ham becomes crunchy, this with a hint of raspberry jam. Beronia Reserva, a sweet wine that is fleshy and fruity in the mouth, is the perfect choice to accompany this type of cheese.
San Agustin Street
Another typical area for tapas in Logroño is the San Agustín Street and here we highlight the food house Las Cubanas. Here we recommend the specialty of the house, the succulent suckling pig, a spectacular dish that matches with our Beronia Mazuelo Reserva, a wine of intense ruby red colour that perfectly fits the fatty meat.
If you are hungry after reading this, do not hesitate to visit this small but charming city and enjoy the best tapas in Spain!
